This 3-hour tour takes us to the heart of Medieval St Peter Port, a charming town with a rich history and a bustling port since Roman times. With its cobbled streets and narrow alleys, it’s a picturesque destination that offers much to explore.
The iconic Castle Cornet, dating back to the 13th Century, was initially constructed as a fortification against the French after the island chose to align with England following the loss of Normandy. Over the years, it has served various purposes, including a garrison, arsenal, and prison.
Originally built on an island, the castle is now accessible via a raised walkway constructed in the 19th Century. It stands on the site of Neolithic and Bronze Age settlements and has undergone numerous reconstructions, showcasing remnants from Medieval, Tudor, and World War 2 eras.
Join me to see and hear the key highlights of Castle Cornet. Afterward, you can enjoy the ‘Story of Castle Cornet’ exhibition, explore the museums, or wander through the castle's four small gardens at your own pace.
